Step-by-Step Guide to a Stress-Free Wedding Rehearsal for your Athens, GA Wedding
Your walk down the aisle is one of the most unforgettable moments of your wedding day. At SpringHaus Farm, an Athens GA wedding venue, we have witnessed everything from traditional slow walks to fun, unconventional entrances that reflect in the couple's fun or laid back style. As you begin to envision your special walk moment, there are a few essential things you and your wedding party should understand before that. In this blog, we will give you some musts for planning your very important special day rehearsal.

The Importance of the Rehearsal
One thing couples often overlook is the wedding rehearsal. It’s more than just a chance to "rehearse", it sets the tone for your special day and ensures everyone knows their roles. The rehearsal typically takes place the day before your wedding and is attended by the key players. What does "key" mean here?
Who should attend: The wedding couple, the officiant, the wedding party (bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls, ring bearers), parents, grandparents, and anyone with a specific role in the ceremony.
Who should not attend: This is not an event for every guest, nor for every out of town guest! While we love a full celebration here at SpringHaus Farm, your rehearsal should be small and focused, about 20-30 people at most. Having 75 guests at your rehearsal can distract from its purpose, making it harder to get everyone on the same page. It's like trying to talk over top of all your guests and herding cats! Nearly impossibly, and this moment is a moment we really need EVERYONE to listen!

Where to Hold Your Bouquet
Here is a detail brides sometimes forget...where do you hold your bouquet? We often see brides and bridesmaids hold their flowers too high (nerves can actually do that, cause you to tense up and your shoulders raise causing the bouquet to inch it's way up and hide your dress), which can look awkward in photos. The trick? Hold your bouquet at your waist, with your arms slightly bent (Or as we say bouquet to belly button!) This keeps your posture elegant and your flowers front and center in photos without blocking your dress.

Traditional vs. Unconventional Walks Down the Aisle
Here at SpringHaus Farm, we celebrate all kinds of love, which means we are all about nontraditional and unconventional moments. Your walk down the aisle doesn’t have to be the classic slow walk with a bridal march. Instead, you may even want to consider:
Music choices Tailored to YOU: Walk down the aisle to a song that has personal meaning to you and your partner, whether it’s an acoustic cover of your favorite rock ballad or something upbeat that gets your guests excited.
Ditch the walk: We’ve seen couples dance down the aisle, walk down together, and even enter with their pets! At SpringHaus Farm, we’re all about letting you and your partner's personality take over.
Who walks with you? Tradition says it’s the father of the bride, but we’ve seen beautiful alternatives: both parents, close friends, siblings, or walking together as a couple. It’s your moment, so make it reflect your specific story, there are no rules!

Advice for the Wedding Party
For the wedding party, walking down the aisle can make your nerves feel like they are on fire, we totally get that, especially for those who aren’t used to being in front of a crowd. Here are some SpringHaus Farm tips to make sure everyone feels calm and confident:
Deep breath, smile, and be present: The day flies by, so remind your wedding party to take their time walking and really enjoy the moment. A smile goes a long way!
Slow it down: A common mistake is walking too fast. Practice during the rehearsal, and find a comfortable pace that keeps the ceremony flowing smoothly without feeling rushed.
Focus on the Couple: Remind your wedding party that their role is to support you, not be the center of attention. Encourage them to keep their eyes on the couple and enjoy the moment.

Wrapping Up the Rehearsal
Here at SpringHaus Farm, you get one free hour of rehearsal time (it goes FAST, especially when your wedding party isn't listening!). Once the rehearsal is over, use this time to answer any last-minute questions if there is time. Make sure everyone understands where they need to be, what their timing is, and how they should enter.
Once we wrap that up, if you have chosen to take advantage of extra time via a rehearsal contract for our booked couples, now it's time to relax and enjoy your rehearsal dinner knowing everything is in place for the big day.
At SpringHaus Farm, we believe in creating a wedding day that is as unique and special as the couple getting married. Whether you opt for a traditional ceremony or one filled with unconventional touches, these small details will make your special day less stressful and unforgettable.
